Britains Racing Colours Famous Owners from the Canadian series: Seagram Stables. Seagram Stables were founded in 1888 in Ontario, Canada by the wealthy distiller Joseph E Seagram. In total, during his lifetime Joseph Seagram won the prestigious Queen’s Plate fifteen times and horses from his stables won every major race in Canada as well as races in the United States. Following the death of Joseph E. Seagram in 1919, his sons took over the operation and would win the Plate four more times before dismantling their racing stables in 1933.
