Austrian born George Borgfeldt came to America in the 1850s. He opened a commission business in New York in the mid 1860s and “Nifty Play Toys” was his trademark. Nifty produced original figures made of hollowcast slush lead with the most recognisable being the circus figures

This is the Nifty Circus figure called Eddie wearing white clown suit with bliue and orange detailing, a white ruff with red stripes and a blue hat. He is sitting on the back of a seated grey mule with gold detailing and is holding a raised stick in his right hand. Measures 6 cms / just under 2.5 inches wide
