The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears dates back to the 1830s although originally it was an old woman, rather than a young girl that intruded on the three bears at home. The name of Goldilocks didn’t emerge until the early 20th century based on the girl’s golden hair.
This is a complete rare Roydon Goldilocks and the Three Bears set that came out in 1952 and was originally accredited to Crescent but, as the box shows, was made by Roydon Diecasts in Wallasey. All three bears are almost black in colour and have white eyes with red mouths.
Papa and Mama Bear are both standing - Papa with his paws outstretched and Mama with hers together. Baby Bear is crouching down as though ready to run. Goldilocks is wearing a green dress and has long blonde hair. She is holding her hands behind her back. Set is contained in original dark blue two-part box with printed paper label to lid.
